Fueling Victories From Track To Tank

More high-performance racing engines rely on Sunoco race fuels than all others combined. For over 50 years, Sunoco has been fueling the top race car drivers around the world with high-quality, performance fuels they can trust to power them to the checkered flag. That same level of quality and reliability is brought to consumers every day at the pump, to help keep their cars running cleaner, longer and more efficiently.

With Sunoco UltraTech™, a high detergent fuel blend, drivers can have confidence knowing they are filling up with fuel that contains the same detergent levels used in the racing fuel that is made for NASCAR®.

The Official Fuel of Nascar

Sunoco has been the official fuel of NASCAR since 2004 and is the exclusive fuel provider for all three national racing series in the sport:

  • Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series
  • NASCAR XFINITY Series
  • NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

Sunoco has fueled more than 15.5 million miles of competition and over 1,300 victories in NASCAR alone. The specialized NASCAR fuel is Sunoco Green E15, a 98 octane, unleaded fuel blend specifically engineered for high-performance engines and race cars. It’s called Green E15 because the racing fuel is actually green in color.

The Official Fuel of Indycar

Open wheel racing produced some pivotal storylines in Sunoco’s history in racing, so it was only natural to start a new chapter in 2011, signing on as the official fuel of IndyCar.

Our legacy in open wheel racing was cemented in 1972, when the brand sponsored the Roger Penske No. 66 Sunoco McLaren, which Mark Donohue drove to victory in that year’s Indianapolis 500. That same team won the inaugural IndyCar race at Pocono Raceway with Sunoco fuel in the tank.

The company provides Sunoco E85-R, an unleaded racing fuel containing 85% ethanol, to every team in IndyCar. It is highly oxygenated and requires increased fuel flow compared to conventional non-oxygenated fuels, making it perfect for the air/fuel ratio requirements of the IndyCar engines.

The Official Fuel of NHRA

In 2015, Sunoco completed the trifecta of American Motorsports by signing on as the official fuel of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). Sunoco is now the exclusive provider of racing fuel for all of the NHRA’s professional racing classes: Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle.

Sunoco puts put a tremendous amount of care and precision into the race fuels we manufacture for the NHRA, and then they burn it up in just about four seconds. And maybe it’s coincidence, but since the NHRA switched to Sunoco racing fuel, five national records have fallen along with 59 individual track records across Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle classes of racing.

The Choice of Grassroots Racing

Beyond NASCAR, IndyCar, and NHRA, Sunoco is also extremely proud to be fuel of choice for a wide array of other forms of motorsports, including MotoAmericaMotoAmerica, American Flat TrackAmerican Flat Track, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt SeriesLucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, ARCA Racing SeriesARCA Racing Series and more than 50 other racing series.
